Now, he shares devastating news that he\u2019s been diagnosed with tongue cancer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dave Coulier was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in November 2024. In April earlier this year, he gave joyous news that he was cancer-free. However, just months later, he has now been diagnosed with another type of cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/news\/dave-coulier-tongue-cancer-rcna245598\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Today<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday, the Full House star announced that he was recently diagnosed with tongue cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTotally unrelated to the previous cancer that I had,\u201d he said. \u201cSo in October of this year, I went in for a PET scan, just a routine check-up and something flared on the PET scan. It turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue. So I said to the doctors, I said, \u2018Well, did this happen because of the lymphoma?\u2019 And they said, \u2018Totally unrelated.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-dave-coulier-diagnosed-with-tongue-cancer\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dave Coulier diagnosed with tongue cancer<\/h2>\n<p>Coulier, who played Uncle Joey on the hit television show, said doctors had told him that he had to undergo 35 rounds of radiation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll be done [on] Dec. 31,\u201d he said, before continuing, \u201cPrognosis is very good for P16 squamous carcinoma. So it has a 90+ curability rate. But the thing that has really saved my life is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well. So I hope you\u2019re getting your check-ups. I hope your colonoscopies and breast exams, and prostate exams, they will save your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, the beloved actor has had a family history of the disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI lost my mom to breast cancer. I lost my sister Sharon to breast cancer. She was 36 years old. I lost my niece, Shannon. She was 29 years old,\u201d he told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/dave-coulier-says-women-in-family-with-cancer-gives-hope-amid-his-diagnosis-journey-exclusive-8746584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">People Magazine<\/a>\u00a0in 2024. Meanwhile, his older sister Karen was also going through cancer alongside him.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-990509531\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-3bf11c117411af1e095240daaf1609c1\" class=\"newsner-3bf11c117411af1e095240daaf1609c1 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI saw what those women in my family went through, and I thought to myself, \u2018If I can be just 1\/10th of a percent as strong as they were, then I\u2019m going to be just fine,\u2019 \u201d he added.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-there-s-a-lot-to-live-for\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cThere\u2019s a lot to live for\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>By being open about his cancer diagnosis, Dave Coulier hopes he can inspire others to get tested early.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTake great care of yourself, because there\u2019s a lot to live for,\u201d he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancerhealth.com\/article\/90s-tv-star-dave-coulier-diagnosed-stage-iii-nonhodgkin-lymphoma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0last year. \u201cAnd if that means talking with your doctors or getting a mammogram or a breast exam or colonoscopy, it can really make a big change in your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave Coulier and his family.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On April 1,\u00a0Full House\u00a0star Dave Coulier shared news that he was cancer-free after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2024.
